This article covers everything about using Codebox lockboxes with LetHub: buying boxes, moving boxes you already own, setup, codes, the ID check and fixes for common problems.
How Codebox works with LetHub
A Codebox lockbox is a keypad lockbox that holds the key at a unit. LetHub connects directly with Codebox, so leads can tour a vacant unit on their own.
Add each box to your LetHub account and connect it to a unit.
Put the box on the unit with the key inside, then turn on self-showing for that unit.
LetHub schedules tours and sends each lead a one-time code for their showing.
A box only works with LetHub if you bought it through LetHub, or Codebox has transferred it to LetHub.
Buying lockboxes through LetHub
Prices as of 2026 (they may change):
Junior, holds one key: $85 per box
Senior, holds two keys: $95 per box
Shipping is extra: Codebox's shipping charge is added to your order. Most single family homes use a Junior. Choose a Senior if you also hand off a mailbox, gate or building fob key.
To order: open the chat in LetHub and ask to talk to a person, then send the size, how many and your shipping address. We usually place the order the same day. Shipping usually takes about one week, and can take closer to two weeks depending on stock.
Boxes you buy through LetHub arrive set up for LetHub, so they do not need a transfer. Add them and connect them to a unit (see below).
Moving boxes you already own to LetHub
If you bought your boxes directly from Codebox, or use them with another showing software, Codebox has to transfer them to LetHub before they work in LetHub. You ask for this on Codebox's transfer form. Have each box's 8-digit number ready: it is printed on the top of the box.
On your Codebox dashboard, look for this card on the right:
Log in to your Codebox account and click Transfer Request, or open the Codebox transfer request form directly.
Fill in Requester Name, Company Name, Email Address and Phone.
Transfer Date: pick a date at least one week after today. Codebox does not accept an earlier one.
Client Service Provider: the company your boxes are with today.
New Service Provider: type LetHub. This is the field that matters most: if it is left blank, the transfer never reaches us, and nothing tells you it failed.
Enter Box #: add the 8-digit number of every box you want to move. Click + Add another box number for each extra box.
Tick the box at the bottom and click Save. That box sends notice to your current provider; cancelling your account with them is still up to you.
The form looks like this:
What happens next
The boxes move to LetHub on the transfer date you picked.
They do not appear in LetHub by themselves. On or after the transfer date, add each one by its 8-digit number (see below).
Before the transfer date, LetHub shows a "not compatible" error when you add a box. That only means the transfer has not happened yet.
What changes after the transfer
The boxes move into LetHub's Codebox account, so they no longer appear in yours.
You stop paying the active lockbox fee directly to Codebox for those boxes.
Showing codes are created in LetHub.
You only need to keep your own Codebox subscription if you want to move the boxes back later.
Adding boxes and connecting them to a unit
Add a box
Go to the Lockboxes tab.
Click Add Lockbox.
Enter the 8-digit number printed on the top of the box and save. Add boxes one at a time.
If it saves without an error, the box is in your account. If you see "not compatible", see Troubleshooting below.
Connect a box to a unit
Make sure the property is already in LetHub (Properties tab).
On the Lockboxes tab, select the box.
Choose the property and the unit, and click Save. Make sure you pick a unit.
Check that the box is linked to the right property and unit.
Put the box on the unit with the key inside, and turn on self-showing for that unit.
Test it: generate a one-time code on the Lockboxes tab and check that the box opens.
To see which property a box was on before a unit went off-market, click the lockbox number on the Lockboxes page and look under Notes.
Tell leads where the box is (optional)
If the box is hard to find, for example on a hose bib to the left of the garage, add directions in the property's gate access code field: open the property on the Properties tab, scroll to the bottom of the details, and replace the placeholder text "Gate Access Code:" with your directions. See Gate Access Code Integration for how these directions reach leads.
Codes
Showing codes: LetHub creates a one-time code for each showing and sends it to the lead automatically.
Codes you generate: on the Lockboxes tab, click Generate code. A code you generate is valid all day; once it is entered into the box, a 2-hour timer starts. If the lead cannot use it in time, generate a new one and make sure they receive it.
Codes for a future date: click Generate code, choose for future and pick the date.
Changing Agent, Vendor and Shackle codes on the box
Enter your 6-digit admin/agent code and press ENTER.
Wait about 5 seconds, until the screen shows "Select CMD:".
Press 4 for the admin/agent code, 5 for the vendor/door code, or 7 for the shackle code. Enter the new code and press ENTER. For the agent code, press ENTER again on the phone number screen to save it.
Press 0 to exit.
ID check
A lead passes LetHub's ID check before they can book a self-showing tour.
Troubleshooting
"Not compatible" when you add a box
The box is not registered in LetHub's system yet. If you own it, request the transfer (see above) and add it on or after the transfer date. If the error is still there after the transfer date, or you bought the box through LetHub, message us with the box's 8-digit number.
Transferred boxes never showed up
The most common cause is a blank New Service Provider on the Codebox form: the transfer never reaches LetHub. Submit the form again with LetHub in that field (the new transfer date must again be at least a week away), and message us with your box numbers so we can check.
LetHub cannot generate a code
Check that the box is linked to the right property and unit. If it is and codes still fail, the box may need to be activated on our side, or brought back under LetHub's control on Codebox: message us with its 8-digit number.
A lead did not get a lockbox code
Check that the box is linked to the right property, then generate a code for that property and confirm the details are correct.
The box does not respond
Check whether the screen turns on.
If it stays off, hold a 9V battery against the battery port on the bottom of the box until the screen turns on.
Generate a test code and try to open the box.
If it still does not respond, message us, or contact Codebox support at [email protected].
